On the 3rd of June, 2017, an empowerment programme was organized for the widows in the diocese by the Aged and Vulnerable Ministry with the theme: SURVIVAL INSTINCT AS A WIDOW. The empowerment programme featured Welcome address by the diocesan Rt. Revd Emmanuel O. Adekunle, lecture on the theme by Mrs. Ibiyemi Adesoye, Health talk by Mrs. Olajumoke Popoola and a training on zobo business by Mrs. Sobola.
Four widows were empowered to start the zobo business with the sum of 10,000 each. The names of the beneficiaries are Mrs. Esther Ogunmefun from Keesi Archdeaconry, Mrs. Oluremi Adewusi from Ikereku Archdeaconry, Mrs. Sogaolu Taiwo from Ikija archdeaconry and Mrs. Obadina Margaret from Obantoko archdeaconry.
More than 250 participants were in attendance for the empowerment programme.
Mama Egba, Dr. Mrs. Olubimpe O.O.M Adekunle took the closing speech while the closing prayer was said by Revd. Canon F.A. Olaniyan.
