He was assisted
by the Provost, the Archdeacons and other Diocesan Officials with all Synod
Delegates comprising members of the House of Clergy and House of Laity, in
attendance.

Below are the
resolutions of the Synod:-

THE SYNOD THEME

The Synod
examined in all ramifications the theme: THE CHURCH MINISTRY: MAINTENANCE OR MISSION?
(Luke 10: 1-12, Judges 5:16). The Church ministry connotes activities and
responsibilities of the Church in fulfillment of its Biblical mandate in the
world. The work of the Church is mission and should be approached in two broad
ways.

Love for God, Love for fellow human beings, Love for self.

The Great Commission

Church ministry is not for rituals or routine
services but moving with God and the Holy Spirit. Mission is an attribute of a
growing and progressive Church, it must be inclusive i.e. providing
infrastructure, social responsibilities and meeting community needs. On the
other hand, maintenance is an ingredient required for the growth and sustenance
of the Church however, in some situations it may be about self, retention of
status quo and may lead to stagnation of the Church. As Christians, our mission
is to preach the gospel of Christ and to save souls.

The
theme of the Synod, THE CHURCH MINSTRY: MAINTENANCE OR MISSION is apt to transform
individuals and Societies, the Synod therefore recommends the theme to
Christian body in Nigeria for national rebirth.

The
Synod urged Christian parents to teach their children in proper Christian doctrines
(Anglicanism) and Government to give Christian Religious Knowledge necessary
attention in our Education curriculum.

The
Synod urged the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) to put in place feedback
mechanism on the Bible Study Outline and Children Service Syllabus.

EGBA DIOCESE AND
EVANGELISM

The Synod received with gladness the good news
of the accreditation and approval of four new schools in the diocese. They are:

Archbishop Dada Akinde Anglican Comprehensive Academy (ADAACA),
Ikija, Abeokuta that received formal approval as a Junior Secondary School in
Ogun State.

St Jude’s Secondary School, Ijeun Titun, Abeokuta that received
approval for writing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), JSS
examination.

Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School (Private), Onikolobo, Abeokuta that
obtained both the National Examination Council (NECO) and West African
Examination Council (WAEC) accreditations as examination Centre.

St John’s College (Private), Kuto, Abeokuta that obtained both the
National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC)
accreditations as examination Centre.

Efforts are on to establish more schools or
reactivate moribund ones.

The Diocese planted five new Churches after
the last Synod to further extend the frontier of Christianity. The Diocese also
enjoyed the support of Peter Akinola Foundation (PAF) for aggressive rural and
urban evangelism. The Synod therefore enjoined all Christian faithful to pursue
evangelism aggressively, in order to stem the tide of idolatry, ritual
killings, corruptions and other vices in our communities and the nation.

STATE
ISSUES

The Synod wishes
to express appreciation to the out-going Governor of Ogun State-Senator Ibikunle
Amosun CON, for all the good works his administration has
done. The Synod thanked him and his amiable wife, Her Excellency, Mrs Olufunso
Amosun for the unflinching support to the Diocese, especially when the diocese
hosted the Standing Committee of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).
The Synod also appreciates the undaunted contributions of the outgoing Deputy-Governor,
Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo
Adeoluwa and other members of the State Executive Council. As we congratulate
the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa for surviving a
ghastly motor accident, we commiserate with the government of Ogun State, on
the death of Prince Adeniyi Adesanya, Senior Special Assistant to the governor,
who died in the same accident. The Synod also commiserates with his entire
family.

The Synod congratulates
and makes special appeal to Prince (Dr) ‘Dapo Abiodun MFR, the
Governor-elect of Ogun State to ensure that the State is taken to higher levels.
The Diocese of Egba extends her hands of fellowship to the Governor-elect and
assures him of our spiritual and moral supports.

4. NATIONAL
ISSUES

4.1 Yahoo/Yahoo+ imbroglio

The Synod expressed concern on the mad rush of our youths for
wealth and the diabolical practices employed in achieving their nefarious
activities. The Synod noted the efforts of government through various agencies
such as Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC), the Independent
Corrupt Practices Commission, (ICPC), Department of State Security, (DSS), the
Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), and Nigeria Police Force,
(NPF) in curbing the menace which have not yielded desired results. The Synod
enjoined parents, families, Churches and traditional institutions to join
government in combating these evil activities in our society.

  .

4.2 2019
General Elections

The Synod appreciates God for the success of the 2019 General Elections
despite all agitations that the nation might disintegrate. It therefore
congratulates President Muhammad Buhari GCFR, the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo GCON, all elected Governors especially
Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun MFR and Governor Ibikunle Amosun CON, Senator-elect of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria and all other re-elected and newly elected politicians. The Synod enjoins
them to shun self-agenda and pursue God’s agenda by executing people-oriented
programmes and projects that are visible, tangible, durable and available
rather than vague and flimsy propaganda.

     4.3 Collapsed Buildings

The Synod noted with concern the resurgence of building collapse
in our major cities and towns, Lagos being the most affected. The incident had
resulted in loss of many lives and a major cause of danger to the citizens.
This problem is attributable to shylock landlords, building materials producers
and dealers as well as public officers that are fond of taking advantage of
their offices to extort money from citizens before approval could be obtained.

The Synod appealed to all tiers of Government to raise Monitoring
Agencies for effective supervision of construction work and ensuring the proper
application of building rules and regulations while projects are being
executed.

4.4 Insecurity

The Synod expressed concern on the level of insecurity in the
Nation. It condemned recent killings in Kajuru village, Kaduna State and in
Adamawa, Borno, Katsina and Zamfara States. The Synod also noted with concern, the
unabated kidnapping in the Country. It therefore urges the Federal and State
governments to proactively ensure the safety of its citizenry at all times.

5. GLOBAL ISSUES

The Synod noted with deep sense of loss the various mishaps
befalling the world. These include: the Buddhists attack on Rohingya Moslems in
Myanmar, Islamic insurgency- Al-shabab attacks in Nairobi Kenya that left at
least 20 people dead, Christchurch Mosque Shootings (New Zealand), Sri Lanka
Easter Sunday Bombings that left more than 200 people dead, Fire Hazard in
South Korea, Notre Dame Fire in France, cyclone Idai across the coast of Southern
Africa wreaking unforgettable damages, recent plane crash of the Ethiopian
Airline boeing 737 leaving all 157 passengers and crew members on Board dead;
as well as agitations by world powers (USA, Russia, North Korea and China) that
might shake the world economic development negatively. The Synod therefore
enjoins all to rise and cry to God to save the world from the ravaging
catastrophes.

6. AGRICULTURE

The Synod appreciates the successes
recorded through the redistribution of the Diocesan Agricultural Ventures into
manageable farms. These farms are duly registered with Corporate Affairs
Commission with separate Managing Directors having these registered names: The
Egba Dove Farms, Efon-Adanri; Henry Townsend Farms, Opeji; John Buckley Wood
Agro-Ventures, Opeji; Egba-Anglo-Faith Farms, Egba Missionary Agro-Ventures and
Egba Kristo Cradle Agricultural Ventures. It is hoped that the activities of
these farms will further contribute to the food basket of the Nation and also
provide employment opportunities to our teeming youth.

However, the frequent bombardment of cattle
Rearers on our farmland and the lackadaisical attitude of the Government are
condemned and we urge government to stop this menace outrightly.

Signed

Rt.
