The divisions of Reuben have great searching of \u201cheart\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Message\nJudges 5:16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in\nReuben\u2019s divisions there was much second-guessing. Why all those campfire\ndiscussions? Diverted and distracted,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuben\u2019s\ndivisions couldn\u2019t make up their mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2\u00a0\u00a0 GOSPEL READING\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Luke 10:1-12\u00a0 (NKJV)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After these things the Lord appointed [a]seventy\nothers also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place\nwhere He Himself was about to go. <strong>2\u00a0<\/strong>Then He said to them, \u201cThe harvest\ntruly <em>is<\/em> great, but the labourers <em>are<\/em> few; therefore, pray the\nLord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3\u00a0<\/strong>Go your way; behold, I send you out\nas lambs among wolves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4\u00a0<\/strong>Carry neither money bag, knapsack,\nnor sandals; and greet no one along the road. <strong>5\u00a0<\/strong>But whatever house you enter, first say, \u2018Peace to this house.\u2019 <strong>6\u00a0<\/strong>And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest\non it; if not, it will return to you. <strong>7\u00a0<\/strong>And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they\ngive, for the labourer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8\u00a0<\/strong>Whatever city you enter, and they\nreceive you, eat such things as are set before you. <strong>9\u00a0<\/strong>And heal the sick there, and say to them, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The kingdom\nof God has come near to you.\u2019 <strong>10\u00a0<\/strong>But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into\nits streets and say, <strong>11\u00a0<\/strong>\u2018The very dust of your city which\ncling to\u00a0 [b]us we wipe off against you.\nNevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.\u2019 <strong>12\u00a0<\/strong>[c]But I say to you that it will be more\ntolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3\u00a0 REFLECTION on Bible\npassage in Judges 5:16<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From our text in Judges 5:16, we see Deborah in this great\nengagement observing who stood neuter and did not side with Israelis as\u00a0 might have been expected. It is strange to\nfind how many, even of those who were called Israelites basely deserted this\nglorious cause and declined to appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuben, not only for their division by the river Jordan,\nwhich needed not to have hindered them had their hearts been there but for his\nsitting stilled alienation of mind from his brothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuben abode among the sheepfold, a warmer and safer place\nthan the camp, pretending they could not conveniently leave the sheep they\ntended, he loved to hear the bleating of the flocks, the music the sheep makes.\nThese, Reuben preferred before the martial drum and trumpet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be summarised as ,fear of trouble , love of ease,\naffection for worldly business which keep many from doing their duty as God\nintended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By inference narrow, selfish spirits care not what becomes of\nthe interest of God\u2019s church, so they can but get, keep, and save money. It is\na lack of commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4\u00a0 REFLECTION on Bible passage in Luke 10:1-12<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nintroductory phase, After these things\u2019\u2019 ties this episode to what immediately\nprecedes and so the passage functions as an application of the conditions for\ndiscipleship set out in 9:57-62.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luke was\nwritten 70AD 20-30-40 years\u00a0 after Jesus\nascended to heaven. Those who heard Him\u00a0\nthe first witnesses were dying out so the necessity to write and\npreserve His sayings for future generation that comes afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lu 1:4 shows\nLuke wrote for Christians and Gentile world when the Roman empire looked\npluralistic many races religion just like the world we live in today Lu 1:1\ngave reason for writing\u00a0 to give\nChristians security and assurance because three was no security. It looked like\nGod had failed the Jews. Main message of Jesus was the Kingdom of God. When was\nit to happen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next day\nprobably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it didn\u2019t\nlook like things were getting better but worse. Do we have our hopes placed\nright on Jesus or is He going to let us down as He did the Jews ? that was what\nthe gentiles thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luke takes the\nsayings of Jesus and the doings of Jesus picking which appeals to him, to give\nreassurance and hope about the christian life. He encouraged them to look at\nMission with God and start going to the end of the earth with mission for God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lu 10:1-10 how\nto do mission in a plurality society and how that can be adapted to us today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>in verse\n1,<\/em><\/strong> what is the\nsignificance of 70? could it be because the Jews believe there are 70 nations\nin the world? Or the 70 Elders of Moses? as\u00a0\nForerunner like John the Baptist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 by 2 ? 2 are\nbetter than one? mission is better done together,\u00a0 protection? security and safety?\u00a0 praying together? support group? accountability?\nmarried couples?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>will\u00a0 they\u00a0\nreach 35 cities ? nations? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>can 2 reach a\ncity?\u00a0 Can 2 people have an\u00a0 Impact on a community? The key is in\ndeveloping relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>some say what\ncan a church of 15 do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In verse\n2,\u00a0 to every place\u00a0 where He has to go. A farmer that has planted\nall year, why would he miss the harvest? Jesus is seeing what others cannot\nsee.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where were the\ntowns and the places He has to go located on this trip from Galilee to Judea?\nThat was some terrible tough place like Samaria. eg\u00a0 Morocco 32m over 99% muslims yet the harvest\nis vast, but are workers few!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verse 3\u00a0 following Jesus means taking up the\ninstrument of execution and offers us no guarantees of comfort or ease but be\nsmart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>verse 4 Be\ndependent on me says Jesus. Don\u2019t list what you will take on a long hike. No\ntime to greet.Their greetings is more involved and He knew to which town he was\nsending them and the urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>verse 5 your\nmission is urgent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>verse 6 a son\nof peace will receive them<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>verse 7 wages\nfor them food and water he taught them dependence and His faithfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>verse 8 those\nwho receive them have Peace and healing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>verse 9 heal\nthe sick JESUS proclaiming the Kingdom of God and healing. His deeds were\npicturing His reign <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus\u2019s\u00a0 works make His Words visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>luke has 2\nthemes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luke\u2019s theme\nof <strong><em>acceptance \/rejection.<\/em><\/strong> if you accept the people Jesus sent ,\nif you accept the message ,\u00a0 then you\naccept Jesus.\u00a0 if you reject the\nmessenger, you\u2019ve rejected Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Luke\u2019s\ntheme of possession and hospitality <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you share\nyour possessions and offer hospitality, you are one of us. you have come into\nthe kingdom of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told them\nthe\u00a0 harvest? (old testament metaphors )\nis plentiful ingathering? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>is the harvest\naround you big or small? have u ever thought about the harvest around you being\nvery small? sometimes we christians say <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u2018no one wants to hear the gospel?\u2019 Thats a\nmistake today. where were they headed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0these ones were heading towards Samaria\nunfriendly territory\u00a0 and\u00a0 yet\u00a0\nJesus said the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few\u00a0 so we expect Jesus to ask them to pray for\nwhat?\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>more workers?\nRight?\u00a0 ask for more workers? No !\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He says \u2026.ask\nThe Lord of the harvest therefore to\u00a0 to\nsend more workers into the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0but the big problem here\u00a0 is that the workers are not going into the\nfield<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can you\nimagine a local community where the crops are not coming in, what shall we do?\noh\u00a0 \u2018some new stained glass windows\u2019\u00a0 will bring some crops in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018if we change\nthe music we play we\u2019ll get some crops in\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018no if we\nimprove the bathrooms, toilets ,we\u2019ll get some crops into the barns.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018 If we\nimprove the preaching here we\u2019ll get more\u2019 so let\u2019s pray and do some meetings\nchange things around . have committee meetings , initiate programmes and lots\nof activities, and surely the harvest will come into the barn and we better put\na big lighted sign board out so they can find us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarcasm? But\nit brings out the point. What happens in churches? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do\nchurches get the harvest to come to them? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They want to\ndo all these things to get people to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The way Luke\ncast Jesus methodology is You go to them. Don\u2019t attract them\u00a0 to you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You go to them\nand meet them where they are and see what the Lord would do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go where God is already working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shalom Peace to this house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>if you say peace and they shut the door just go away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>workers deserve his wages. don\u2019t be afraid to take money from\nothers to do gospel work.\u00a0 Find the man\nof peace how? pray seek? fast and you\u2019ll find. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul went to Philippi found Lydia who\u00a0 sold purple\u00a0\n(ie very rich) and the Lord has prepared her heart to receive Paul\u2019s\nmessage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>then the jailer, come to my house, I\u2019ll introduce you to all\ngovernment officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do 2 people have impact on a community?\u00a0 It is by establishing\u00a0 relationships .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Relationship is the vehicle of the gospel and the best\nrelationship is with a person of peace in that community and that peace will\nnetwork you with other people. But if you are welcome,\u00a0 it means God is there. no matter how many\ntimes you are turned off find out who wants peace and go there.What was Sodom\u2019s\nproblem?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sodom problem homo.?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0 missing\u00a0\nthe point it is to be hospitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>now what\u2019s the key for a small church ? 1) find a person of\npeace<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>what was the mission of the 70? <\/em><\/strong>\u2026\u2026\u2026\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nTo prepare cities to receive Jesus when he came,We are on a mission from\nGod too, to prepare our\u00a0 neighbourhood\nand communities to be ready to receive Jesus when He comes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Go forth into the\nHarvest and may you be blessed of God as you find and discern your person of\npeace. as you journey with Jesus on a mission from God, the mission of the\nFather and the Son and the Holy Spirit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0 Our Theme: Church\nMinistry : Maintenance or Mission?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a05\u00a0 <strong><em>\u00a0From the Theme, What is Church Ministry?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In Christianity, ministry is an activity carried out by\nChristians to express or spread their faith, the prototype being \u2018The Great\nCommission.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The New Testament church is sometimes translated assembly\nwhich comes from the Greek EKKLESIA which means \u2018\u2019called out\u2019\u2019 from the world\nto be His own and assemble together in His Name. The primary meaning of church\nrefers to all christian believer everywhere irrespective of denominations and\ndoctrinal differences\u00a0 All persons who\ngenerally place their faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord are members of\nthe church also called the body of Christ over which He is the head ( Ephesians\n1:22&amp;23). Also the church refers to local congregation of believers . There\nis only one true\u00a0 church made up of many\nindividual churches.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We can ask, Is the church an organisation or an organism? It\nis the united fellowship of all christians with their God \u2014\u2014 the wondrous union\nof Christ\u2019s Spirit indwelling the hearts of all true believers who reproduce\nthemselves in obedience to the Lord\u2019s command and are to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>To proclaim the gospel through out the world (Mark 16:15, Luke\n10:1-9)\u00a0 ( Evangelism)\u00a0 and to make disciples of ( Discipleship )\n(Mathew 28:19-20,) . This is\u00a0 referred to\nas the \u2018Great Commission.\u2019\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(2) The church\u00a0 is\nthe\u00a0 continuation of Christ\u2019s\u00a0 earthly ministry saving lost souls (Matt\n18:11) and\u00a0 doing greater works (\nJohn14:12 ) healing the sick and announcing the arrival of the Kingdom of God\n(Lu 10:9,)\u00a0 (Matt 10:8 )<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>He imparted this same objective to his disciples ( Mathew\n4:19) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>( Luke 4:18-19) (2 cor 5:18)\u00a0\nIt is the purpose of every believer, not only pastors and clergymen, to\nbring souls to the kingdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0( 3.) To serve as a\ncommunity of worship and fellowship, <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>to manifest the presence of Jesus and His love. ( Matthew\n18:20), Rev 4:11, John 4:23, Mark 12:30-31<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>( 4 )\u00a0 To mature\nbelievers and prepare them to perform the work of the ministry (Ephesians\u00a0 4:11-12), Hebrew (10:24-25)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>( 5. ) To represent the kingdom of God ( Mathew 5:13-14,16).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><em>What\u00a0 then is the\u00a0\nmission or goal\u00a0 or purpose\u00a0 of the church?\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through out history, virtually\u00a0 every christian leader has proclaimed that <strong><em>THE\nGREAT COMMISSION <\/em><\/strong>is the purpose of the church<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>however , churches everywhere seem to to be saying \u2018who am I\nto make disciples ?\u2019\u2019 I\u2019d rather \u2026.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>preach sermons to my church<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>teach Sunday school classes<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>lead Sunday evening services<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>knowing full well that these activities do not produce\ndisciples<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>you may ask\u00a0 \u2018what do\nyou mean? these activities aren\u2019t making disciple? No they are not.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>from survey of over 1000 evangelical churches in the US it\ntook one pastor and 100 church members one full year to win only 1.66 persons\nto Christ and their church. 66% of the members haven\u2019t changed one\ndisciple-making habit to be more Christ like\u00a0\nin over 5 years.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>How do you think this is like in your country?\u00a0 in your church?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>the purpose of the church is to finish the Great Commission.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>How do you know?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Because they are Jesus\u2019 last words ,the NT repeats these\nwords\u00a0 in some form five times in the NT<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>we must distinguish purpose from ingredient.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>for bakers\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nFor churches<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>flour\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Evangelism<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>sugar\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nfellowship<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>MAKE COOKIES\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nMAKE DISCIPLES<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>mix in 2 eggs\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nteach and equip the saints<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>bake at 400 degree\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nBe an example of holiness<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Each list has five commands but one is the purpose.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>there are 4 irrefutable elements of the Gt Commission<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>A . it is intended as a life style Matt 28:19 , therefore Go,\nwhere ever you are the Gt Commission was intended to be a lifestyle for every\nchristian. Matt 4:19<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>B . we must understand that the Gt Commission includes\nevangelism<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>C . the Great commission includes building Christians all the\nway to maturity.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>D .The Great Commission includes reaching the Entire world.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>we must never settle for Status Quo if the timing is wrong in\nour churches , then we might as well simply close the door of our church . We\nhave no other purpose. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>JESUS PROMISED THAT THE GREAT COMMISSION WOULD BE FINISHED\nMATTHEW 24:14.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The 12 Apostles themselves set out to finish most got\nmartyred in the process\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Paul states that he actually did finish in a definite\narea.\u00a0 Paul did finish laying the\nfoundation for completing the Great Commission from Jerusalem all the way to\nthe\u00a0 Adriatic Sea Rom 15:18-24 and where\never he went ,taught all he possibly could. Col 1:28-29<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>WHAT DOES FINISHING THE GREAT COMMISSION LOOK LIKE?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Every neighbourhood is saturated with\ndisciple making churches<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>Every person has personally invited\nto receive Christ<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>Every willing convert is nurtured in\nan ongoing disciple-making process and commitment is an indispensable\ningredient .<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Church Ministry: Maintenance or Mission <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>What is\u00a0 maintenance in church ministry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0 Maintenance <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This refers to an institutionalised Church that has the focus\non Preaching and general monitoring of people and facilities, and have\u00a0 other peculiarities In the choice of its\nleadership as the same people rotate to new Positions by nomination into a\nPower-Board\/Committee\/Tenure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Personal Spiritual growth is mainly Sunday school and\nfellowship group. Root values -Traditional : Relational Caste System.Valuing\nold structures above making disciple inhibits disciple making.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Worship service attendance, Sunday school attendance and success of\nprograms and activities are common priority.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The beauty of the building and grounds are of importance. Even so, one\ncould be logically argue that every witnessing christian is a missionary -at\nleast a \u2018\u2019sent one\u2019\u2019 in the sense of being an \u2018\u2019ambassador for christ\u2019\u2019 in the\nworld. 2Cor.5:16-21, John 17:13-21<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2018\u2019Church planting\u2019\u2019 is an integral part of missions. The protestant reformation put scriptures into the hands\nof the people again.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>1800-1946AD<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>the great century of Christian missionary activity.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>1946-date .<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Christian missionary activity came between 1800 an 1900 as a\nlate developing result of Protestant Reformation <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>13.\u00a0 A Case study:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When T.L. Osborn and Daisy Osborn went on a\nmissionary journey to India when they were young in 1945,.They were unable to\nconvince the people of ancient , Eastern religion about the power of the\u00a0 gospel because the people challenged them\nabout\u00a0 how the\u00a0 Holy Bible , the word of God ( black trimmed\nin gold) could be better than what they had\u00a0\nthe\u00a0\u00a0 Holy Quran with gold\ntrimming also written on it the word of God! They were asked to prove that\ntheir own black book\u00a0 the BIBLE, was\nsuperior to the Quran. All the theology they knew could not prove it.\u00a0 They were unable to succeed in India. They\nrealised that something was missing they needed that same divine approval\u00a0 that God gave Christ\u00a0 ( In Acts 2:22 Jesus was attested by God\namong people\u00a0 by miracles and wonders and\nsigns , which God did by Him in the midst of people .)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0They had seen the\nmasses lost in empty religion and it was obvious to them that if the\npeople\u00a0 could hear Christ\u2019s gospel, and\nsee it confirmed by miracles as resulted when the disciples went forth Mk\n16:20., Millions of them would embrace His gospel and become His disciples. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>They later\u00a0 discovered\nwhy they were unable to succeed. They wrote:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>\u2018\u2019Although we spent hours on our\nknees, our manner of prayer did not harmonise with biblical truths\u2019\u2019,\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u2018\u2019for over a year we struggled to\nreformer\u00a0 our thinking and our attitude\nabout prayer.\u2019\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>(the same truth revealed to John G Lake and Curry Blake see\nDHT manual)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>As the Lord appeared to them\nindividually, they began to discover\u00a0 in\nthe scriptures the blessings that Christ had provided through his death,\nburial, resurrection, and ascension. <\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>they became aware of satan\u2019s defeat\nby Christ and they learnt about God\u2019s promises to confirm His Word by miracles.\nThey wrote:<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>\u2018\u2019As we discovered redemptive truths\nwe realised that our way of PRAYING did not correspond with Gods love-plan for\npeople, we were pleading for Him to do things that He was already passionate to\ndo.<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>Language becomes routine automated.\nIt flows from our lips almost without thought . We were pouring out\nsupplication to God with automated phrases verbalising\u00a0\u00a0 empty traditional prayer concepts that were\nnot in accord with the truth of redemption.<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>we struggled with our miserable\nautomated verbosity for over a year but by persistence we finally conformed our\nprayer vocabulary\u00a0 to Gods redemptive\nprovisions\u2019\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>They discovered their place in Christ and relationship with\nthe Father.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>\u00a0\u2018\u2019Without miracles\u2019\u2019 they said, \u2018\u2019we offered\nlittle more than a christian philosophy\u2019\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>\u00a0EVEN THE MASSES GLADLY FOLLOWED CHRIST WHEN\nTHEY CAN SEE\u00a0 HIM CONFIRM HIS WORD WITH\nSIGNS AND MIRACLES.<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE RELIGIOUS\nACADEMICIANS\u00a0 MAY TEACH, THE UNDENIABLE\nFACT REMAINS THAT THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE DEMONSTRATION OF THE\u00a0 SPIRIT AND OF POWER 1 COR 2:4 <\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>A CRIPPLE THAT IS INSTANTLY HEALED\nHAS A TESTIMONY THAT IS MORE CONVINCING THAN A THOUSAND SERMONS.<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>AS HE IS SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD.\u00a0 1 John 4:17 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>JESUS CAME PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD MK 1\n:14 AND HE TOLD HIS FOLLOWERS TO DO SAME TO ALL THE WORLD MK 16:15<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>SAYING\u00a0 THE KINGDOM OF\nHEAVEN IS AT HAND MATT 10:7<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Why did He say that?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST 2 COR 5:20. ; AND CO <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>LABOURERS\u00a0 1 COR 3:9\nJESUS SAID AS THE FATHER HAS SENT ME SO HAVE I SENT YOU.\u00a0 JN 20:21; 17:18<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In FEB 1960 T L Osborn returned to INDIA where he recorded\nrecorded his PREVIOUS FAILURE In the same country 14 years earlier.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>But now an OLD HINDU HOLY MAN RECEIVED A POWERFUL GOSPEL\nMESSAGE WITH demonstration of Spirit and power with\u00a0 MULTIPLE MIRACLES AND HEALINGS WHEREAS 14\nYEARS PREVIOUS THEY LEFT INDIA BECAUSE THEY WERE INCAPABLE OF CONVINCING THE\nHINDUS AND MUSLIMS THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, NOW THEY COME IN THE THE POWER\nOF THE HOLY GHOST. THEY HAD DISCOVERED FROM THE BIBLE :<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0The two wrong ways not\nto pray <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>( Prayers that God will not answer.)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Beseeching Him for what He has\nprovided <\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>and begging Him to do so many\nthings\u00a0 that He had commissioned us to\ndo.<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>They started seeng healing which\u00a0 was a sign Lu10:8-9<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Healing like Jesus Jn14:12 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>OUR RESPONSIBILITY is:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019Never ask God to do what He has told you to do\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019Never ask God to do what He has already Done\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In six decades , witnessed to more than a hundred nations of\nthe world. They have only acted on the written word of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They reached and led to Christ more non-christian nation and\nthe witnessed great healing. they have sponsored 300, 000 national preachers as\nfull time missionaries in villages that had no gospel and they have built\nthousands of new churches in previously unevangelised areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>14.\u00a0 Lets turn to\nourselves :\u00a0\u00a0 with the world population\nof over 9 billion, if each of us\u00a0 are\ncommitted enough to Obey God\u2019s word and tap into the miraculous ability we have\nbeen given Acts1:8, <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Jn 14:12 then obediently minister that the Kingdom of God is\nat hand and healing\u00a0 is a sign of that\nfact\u00a0 as we are instructed to do in Lu\n10:8-9\u00a0 then each one\u00a0 of us will lead one more person to the Lord,\nthe entire world would have been evangelised\u00a0\nand disci-plied in a few years.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>why has the church failed to fulfil the Great Commission in\n2000 years?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is our role? Make disciples . What are we to do now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn from the failures of others and\u00a0 Kill the sacred cows and forbid the tradition\nof men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15,\u00a0 The Current State\nof the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2019where have we gone wrong?\u2019\u2019 ask the author of \u2018growing a\nhealthy church\u2019 in the global body of Christ-today, it is rare to find\ntrue\u00a0 multiplying ministries .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Many bodies are\ngrowing through addition but many churches have plateaued or decline in\nattendance <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About two- thirds of the growing churches\u00a0 increase solely by transfer growth from the\ndead and dying\u00a0 churches rather than by\nassimilating new converts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Majority of church members have been taught theological\ntraditions concerning miracles and physical healings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have been influenced to believe that sickness may be\nGod\u2019s blessings in disguise; that it may teach humility and patience, it may be\nGod\u2019s chastisement and will bring glory to God. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But very few of those people can quote a single biblical\nverse that promises physical healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the promises of God\u00a0\nfor biblical healings and miracles is not taught :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faith will not be birthed in the hearts of people Rom 10:17<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fulfilment\u00a0 of\nthese promises will not be manifested. Rom 10:14, John 8:32. If there is no\nfaith for miracles ,they will not be experienced.Matt 13:58.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John said , a great multitude followed Jesus because they saw\nhis miracles which He did on them that were diseased , Jn 6:2, and that many\nbelieved in His name when they saw the miracles which He did. Jn2:23, Acts\n2:22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When miracles are manifested, unbelievers are drawn to hear\nthe gospel and are persuaded to believe on Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people including some clergy believe that the age of\nmiracles has passed.\u00a0 So does God\/Christ\nmean what He said?\u00a0 From scriptures , we\nread:\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God is a Healer Ex15:26, and He\u00a0 does not change\u00a0 Mal 3:6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus Christ healed the sick , Matt 9:35, Mk 6:55-56,\nAc10:38., <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus commanded His disciples to heal the sick.Matt 10:1-8; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lu 10:1,8-9 and His disciples today are same Jn 8:31<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miracles of healing were manifested in the early church\nfollowing the promise of power and the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:8 which was\nfulfilled in Acts 2:2 and demonstrated in Acts 3:6-7. And the true church has\nnever changed. It is to continue till the end of age Matt 28:20 because <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>( Many ministries are experiencing such miracles today. I\nknow a lot of people here today have testimonies.) Jesus commissioned ALL\nBELIEVERS among all nations until the end of the age , to lay hands-on the\nsick, and they shall recover,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mk 16:15-18, Jn 14:12. Heb 13:8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>16.\u00a0 Reasons the church\nhas failed in missions. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>BY LACK OF UNDERSTANDING CONCERNING THE MISSION.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By being disobedient to the Great Commission<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By\nconcentrating on evangelism to the neglect of discipleship<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(i.e\u2026.making converts not disciples)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By\nthe missionaries doing all the work of ministry and not involving and equipping\nnationals.<\/li><li>By\nconcentrating on buildings, facilities, equipments instead of relationships,\nbuilding up people and training leaders in the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/li><li>By\nemphasising numerical growth instead of spiritual growth<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and so many other reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conclusion <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking at the Current state of the church, In the global\nbody of Christ today, it is rare to find true, \u2018\u2019multiplying\u2019\u2019 ministries . Not\nsurprisingly because church structures today reflect the lives of church\nleaders who have grown up in these types of churches and very few believers have\nexperienced the discipleship and evangelism that Jesus modelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But\u00a0 our example and\nfocus is Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>What did Jesus do?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Jesus\u2019 life is studied chronologically, His strategy for\ncreating a movement of multiplication we will observe that \u00a0 -He balanced the priorities of seeking the\nlost ,establishing believers , and training workers .\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><em>HIS FOCUS WAS ON THE KINGDOM OF GOD.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>What did Jesus tell us to do? and How did He tell us to do\nit?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 Matt 28:18-20 .GO TO\nALL NATIONS WITH THE AUTHORITY I HAVE GIVEN YOU AS A LABOURER EVANGELISING.YOUR\nFIRST PRODUCT IS A CONVERT. ESTABLISHING YOUR CONVERT TO MAKE HIM COMMITTED AND\nLIVE IN OBEDIENCE\u00a0 ALLOWING JESUS AND HIS\nWORD IN THE CENTRE OF HIS LIFE A DISCIPLE IS YOUR FINAL PRODUCT WHICH YOU\nEQUIPPING TO BECOME A LABOURER\u00a0 GT.\nCOMMISSION EXPORTING HIM OUT TO THE NATION OF THE WORLD.\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0His\u00a0 aims:\u00a0\nbaptising them into the Trinity and loving God and one another which is\nby obeying \u2026\u2026.The Great Commandment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christianity is about Loving Relationships.\u00a0 loving them enough to show them the way of\nsalvation as God doesn\u2019t want any to perish. It is His goodness that leads men\nto repentance. Rom 2:4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>He called them, He taught them, He equipped them, Sent them\nforth with power to go and tell that the Kingdom of God is at hand!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told them to demonstrate the Kingdom.Let people see what\nthe kingdom is like\u00a0 in Luke 10 and\nMatt10 because word is cheap. Make it practical real when you understand\npurpose and realise that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A\nmission statement determines \u2018what we are\u2019 -our Identity IN CHRIST<\/li><li>A\nvision statement determines \u2018what we do\u2019 IN HIM<\/li><li>A\nphilosophy of ministry determines \u2018how we do it\u2019 using all His energy that\nworks in us mightily.<\/li><li>Then\nwe get same result , for as He is in this world so are we. <\/li><li>1\nJn 4;17<\/li><li>\u2018\u2019An\nIllustration about The Kingdom Of God\u2019\u2019<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Let us ask the Holy Spirit right now, <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Church Ministry: Maintenance or Mission?
